Anyone who can hardly wait for the first few rays of sunshine to explore the outdoors on foot or by bike will enjoy summer in the Ammergau Alps to the full.
Picturesque hiking and cycling trails in the valley along the Ammer or mountain tours up to the peaks in Graswang valley entice you out to explore Bavaria’s largest nature reserve.
We provide a spacious and lockable bike and sports storage room.
Nordic in the South
The trend sport of “Nordic walking” has in the meantime become a regular sport in the Ammergau Alps. There is something here for everyone.
- 6 different and signposted trails
- Signposting with distance, direction and exercise signs
- Different starting points: Bad Bayersoien, Parkhotel am Soier See, Bad Kohlgrub at the sports grounds and /or the Hörnlebahn cable car top station
Cycling for everyone
Jump on your bike and off you go:
- 500 km of superbly signposted cycle paths
- A whole range of levels:
for leisurely cyclists, family tours or ambitious mountain bikers - Exceptional locations: How about the Schloss Linderhof circuit to the wonderful castle?
- Or a tour up to the Enningalm for the sporty among you?
- E-bike hire – for everyone who wants to take it a bit easier

There are 3 cable cars available that take you up high – whether it’s to start a hike or enjoy the mountain panorama.

- Laber cable car (1,684 metres altitude, starting point: Oberammergau)
- Kolben chair lift – AktivArena am Kolben (1,270 metres altitude, starting point: Oberammergau) Tip: whizz down the mountain again with the Alpine Coaster
